24 February 2019 Categories: Better Sleep Tips Author: Matt Richmond

March is not only the early days of spring in BC, it is an incredible time to find ways to improve the health of you and your loved ones. Longer, warmer days may naturally make us feel more energetic, but being aware of snoring is one way to enjoy the milder days ahead!

There are 5 common warning signs for snoring that require testing to screen for serious sleep issues!

  1. Snoring. Beside being a nuisance to you and your bed partner, frequent snoring is the most common symptom of Sleep Apnea.
  2. Irregular breathing during sleep. Ever woke up with a discomfort or choking sensation in your throat? Or witnessed your bed partner gasping or making odd breathing sounds? This is a classic Sleep Apnea sign and means you should get tested at Snore MD.
  3. Fatigue or Daytime Sleepiness. Need that extra cup of coffee or tea lately? Notice you are tired around 3pm everyday? if you are sleepy regularly even after 7+ hours of sleep the night before, you may have an issue with your sleep that is preventing that great rest you and your body needs!
  4. Overweight. Have you noticed you have gained a few winter pounds that don’t want to leave? Maybe a craving for high calorie food more than usual? Poor sleep caused by severe snoring or Sleep Apnea can make your body crave sugar, carbohydrates and high fat foods.
  5. High Blood Pressure. Between 30 and 40 percent of North Americans that have high blood pressure (Hypertension) also have obstructive Sleep Apnea. If you or a loved one have high blood pressure, best to check your sleep isn’t causing it!
