I learned about obstructive sleep apnea while working for a group of respirologists, and it opened my eyes to the world of sleeping disorders.
We spend a third of our day in bed, and the experience should be a restful and restorative one for all. Working with Snore MD, I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to help others find their way to a good night’s sleep.
What’s your biggest accomplishment in life?
I graduated from college at the age of 26 because I persevered in my goals and chose not to give up on myself or my future. When I left high-school I was not lucky enough to know right away the direction I wanted to head in career-wise. I chose to take my time and discover who I was as a person before deciding to dedicate my time and efforts to study, and I am very glad that I was able to forge my own path with the support of my family and friends.
What do you love most about working with patients?
Being a part of the healthcare system, I feel that patient care is the most important aspect of my work. People come to us for help and by putting their trust in us we can forge a purposeful relationship in which they feel heard and taken care. Making those connections is a remarkable gift and is something that is very meaningful to me.
I chose a career in sleep because I saw first hand how CPAP therapy can drastically change the quality of someone’s life. A family member of mine became diagnosed with a paralyzed diaphragm. Until they started using CPAP therapy breathing their sleep was a terrible nightly struggle. Seeing how life changing this was for them motivated me to switch into this career.
My greatest accomplishment so far for me has been being able to travel the world and experience new cities, cultures & surroundings. I think travelling can really get a person out of their shell.
I always say the best part of working here is being able to build a connection with each & every one of my patients! Giving them the opportunity to live a better life is so rewarding!
I have always wanted to help people, which drove me to become a Respiratory Therapist. I spent almost 8 years working in critical care when I decided to explore my interest in sleep. I have always found sleep interesting, as it widely affects all body systems and can cause extreme health implications without it. It is one of the most overlooked aspects in our lives and being chronically fatigued is something we shouldn’t cope with.
My biggest accomplishment to date has been the privilege I have had helping patients throughout my career. And of course my beautiful family.
