From as far back as I can remember, in my early education, I always had an interest in biology, learning about the anatomy and physiology of the human body. I chose a career in respiratory therapy to learn about some of the most vital organ systems (respiratory & cardiac) and the pathologies surrounding them. I also strived for the opportunity to help patients in need with respiratory illnesses/disorders because, after all, if you can’t breathe, little else matters. Home care (specifically sleep-disordered breathing) was a field of respiratory therapy that piqued my interest. I enjoyed seeing the fruits of my labour when patients returned and told me their lives had been changed. It was enjoyable and rewarding for me to develop a rapport with them and know that I played a role in changing their lives.
I’m a long-time resident of Kelowna, and I decided that this is where I want to be long-term and help with my family’s businesses along the way. As a family, we were always in the industry of customer service, and of course, I carried on to help with the businesses. I eventually branched off and opened two of my own businesses after my Dad retired.
I have a 16-year-old Autistic son, which is the best achievement of my life. Growing up in the public system was so difficult for him, so I enrolled him in a private school for Autistic kids, and now the sky’s the limit for him. I am so proud of him! I love to go hiking with my Border Collie, Bentley, and I have two cats, which are also the love of my life.
I decided that I needed a career change, and I could not pass up the opportunity with Snore MD. I am very excited to be able to build new relationships and start a new journey. I have always been a people person and love all the patients and the team that I work with. I am fortunate to be a part of the Snore MD Family!
After years of working in the health care industry, I decided to change and expand my career with Snore MD. Now with being the Sleep Clinician for Snore MD West Kelowna, I am allowed to opportunity to expand my knowledge base with each and every experience I encounter and patient that I assist. I look forward to building the one on one relationships with each and every new patient that walks through the door. I consider it a privilege to be part of each patients journey to a healthier, happier sleep.
My greatest accomplishment in life other than my family is my career. After a motor vehicle accident in my younger years, I ended up going through years of rehabilitation, therefore delaying furthering my schooling. This did not stop me and at my first opportunity, I went back to school to pursue a career in health care. I wanted to make a difference in someone’s life as so many had previously done for me. I look forward to helping each and every one of our patients sleep better and to being a part of the Snore MD family.
