Sleep. We all need it to function and to live healthier lives. But did you know that more than 40 percent of Canadians experience some sort of sleep disorder at one point in their lifetimes?
If you feel exhausted during the day, or have been told by your partner or spouse that you snore and/or toss and turn throughout the night, you may be experiencing the effects of sleep apnea.
That’s where the professionals at our Snore MD Surrey/Panorama sleep clinic can help. We offer effective sleep apnea and snoring solutions so that you, and your partner, can get a restful sleep at night and function well throughout the day. Visit us in Panorama Village, to the left of Shopper Drug Mart and in between Chopped Leaf and Starbucks.
Your health and wellbeing are important. That’s why our Surrey/Panorama sleep solution team does its best to find ways for you to have a better night’s sleep.
Our team includes sleep experts and medical professionals, including Respiratory Therapists and Registered Nurses, who are trained in the field of sleep disorders and have tried-and-tested sleep apnea solutions.
When you walk through our doors, a clinical coordinator will be happy to answer questions about all your snoring and sleep apnea concerns and get you set up with the required tests and equipment.
I’ve been fortunate to work in the field of Respiratory Therapy for the last 20 years, in the areas of critical care, research, diagnostics and sleep. Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a focus to improve the quality of my patients’ lives. The world of “sleep” has always fascinated me, knowing how important it is to our health and well-being. At SnoreMD, I get to help my patients get the proper treatment they need to achieve better sleep and through that, I help to improve their lives – who wouldn’t love to do that!
On a professional level, I’m proud of my academic accomplishments. I hold two degrees from UBC (in Biology and in Education) as well as my formal training in Respiratory Therapy. I’m also thankful to have worked in lung cancer studies where I was named in research papers as a contributor, which was an amazing feeling! On a personal level, I couldn’t be more proud of my family – my husband and our three kids mean the world to me.
When it comes to my patients, my background in teaching helps me to educate them so they can get the most out of their experience. When we understand and communicate well, it always leads to positive outcomes. I use this approach with my patients from initial testing, to interpreting results, following up on treatments and problem solving. I love helping my patients achieve optimal sleep wellness and success on CPAP therapy.
I chose a career in sleep because I value sleep myself and understand how it plays such an important role in our daily lives. I want to be able to educate patients on how essential sleep is. Sleep allows our body and mind to recharge, helps our body remain healthy, can lower the risk for serious health problems, and can help reduce stress and improve our moods.
My biggest accomplishment in my life thus far was when I ran my first half marathon back in 2018. There is something about setting goals, working towards them, and crushing them! (I was able to beat my goal time by 5 minutes!) Now I share my love for running with my husband and we crush our goals together!
What I enjoy most about working with patients are the connections that are made and hearing about how CPAP Therapy has changed their lives for the better!
It’s amazing how something as simple as a good night’s sleep can save us from such a range of major illnesses. We as a society spend a substantial amount on those ailments after they manifest, while taking sleep for granted. But the truth is sleep is one of the most important things in terms of preventative care; and that is why I pursued a career in sleep therapy.
When working with a patient, I love taking the journey with them. In the beginning we educate, discuss their concerns, and truly make them involved in all aspects of their treatment. Then day by day, week by week, they see the health benefits, not just statistically but mentally and physically. The excitement of our patients from then on is contagious because the truth is effective medicine must be a collaborative effort.
I received my Medical Doctorate abroad and it was one of the most challenging and fulfilling things I have ever done. But my biggest accomplishment isn’t the degree hanging on the wall, but the family picture next to it of my beautiful wife and newborn son. Each day I strive to make them proud.
So if you or someone you know, may have sleep issues, please come by and let’s have a real conversation.
Take the first step towards a happier and healthier life when you walk through the doors of our Snore MD clinic in Surrey/Panorama.
