Sleep. We all need it to function and to live healthier lives. But did you know that more than 40 percent of Canadians experience some sort of sleep disorder at one point in their lifetimes?
If you feel exhausted during the day, or have been told by your partner or spouse that you snore and/or toss and turn throughout the night, you may be experiencing the effects of sleep apnea.
That’s where the professionals at our Snore MD Surrey/Panorama sleep clinic can help. We offer effective sleep apnea and snoring solutions so that you, and your partner, can get a restful sleep at night and function well throughout the day. Visit us in Panorama Village, to the left of Shopper Drug Mart and in between Chopped Leaf and Starbucks.
Your health and wellbeing are important. That’s why our Surrey/Panorama sleep solution team does its best to find ways for you to have a better night’s sleep.
Our team includes sleep experts and medical professionals, including Respiratory Therapists and Registered Nurses, who are trained in the field of sleep disorders and have tried-and-tested sleep apnea solutions.
When you walk through our doors, a clinical coordinator will be happy to answer questions about all your snoring and sleep apnea concerns and get you set up with the required tests and equipment.
As a Respiratory Therapist, I understand the importance of a good night’s sleep to both your physical and mental well-being. Having the knowledge and the tools to treat sleep apnea has allowed my patients to enjoy a healthy, uninterrupted sleep regularly. Not only does this decrease their risk of serious illness, my patients report often immediate changes to their energy-levels and overall well-being. I find tremendous satisfaction in being able to make a significant and immediate difference in patients’ lives and this is why I chose a career in treating sleep apnea.
My greatest accomplishment thus far has been my educational journey to become a Registered Respiratory Therapist. I built a lot of my foundational knowledge for the RT program at SFU where I studied Cell Biology. Through a lot of hard work and perseverance, I graduated from the program with the goal of helping those in the community that suffer from sleep-disordered breathing issues.
My favorite part about what I do is the connections that I make with my patients. Each patient has a unique story and I enjoy getting to know each person beyond just their condition. I believe that fostering trusting relationships with patients is important as it allows for better follow-up and ultimately better health outcomes.
In my many years in Healthcare, I’ve always wanted to work in a specialized office. Sleep is crucial for the mind, body and soul so it was an obvious choice for me to continue my career in sleep so I could help make a difference in someone’s health with a better night’s sleep.
Life is a beautiful journey and there is so much more to live and accomplish. But my biggest accomplishment in life thus far is my family, especially my daughter. She is pure, kind, smart and the epitome of joy. She makes me prouder with each passing day!
What I love most about working with patients is being on their journey to better health with them. I enjoying building relationships with our patients, hearing their stories and seeing the benefits of CPAP therapy improve their overall health and well-being.
It’s amazing how something as simple as a good night’s sleep can save us from such a range of major illnesses. We as a society spend a substantial amount on those ailments after they manifest, while taking sleep for granted. But the truth is sleep is one of the most important things in terms of preventative care; and that is why I pursued a career in sleep therapy.
When working with a patient, I love taking the journey with them. In the beginning we educate, discuss their concerns, and truly make them involved in all aspects of their treatment. Then day by day, week by week, they see the health benefits, not just statistically but mentally and physically. The excitement of our patients from then on is contagious because the truth is effective medicine must be a collaborative effort.
I received my Medical Doctorate abroad and it was one of the most challenging and fulfilling things I have ever done. But my biggest accomplishment isn’t the degree hanging on the wall, but the family picture next to it of my beautiful wife and newborn son. Each day I strive to make them proud.
So if you or someone you know, may have sleep issues, please come by and let’s have a real conversation.
