Snore MD Kamloops Sleep Clinic Helps BC Interior Residents Sleep More Soundly

26 August 2020 Categories: Our Dream Team Author: Michael Davis
The newest sleep apnea clinic in Kamloops provides local residents with free sleep testing as well as CPAP therapy.

As Kamloops area residents know, work and play are impossible to enjoy if you’re suffering from sleep disorders such as sleep apnea or snoring.  That’s where Snore MD’s new sleep clinic in Kamloops is here to help! We offer proven sleep solutions so that you can get back to the things that are most important to you and your family — and that includes a good night’s sleep!

Kamloops is in the traditional territory of the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc, ‘the people of the confluence’ Shuswap speaking people of British Columbia. This vast land stretches from the Columbia River Valley along the Rocky Mountains, west to the Fraser River, and south to the Arrow Lakes.

Kamloops and the surrounding area provide a perfect blend of rural and city living. Kamloopsians are blessed with a diverse economy supported by forestry, mining, education, retail, and agriculture.

The semi-arid climate and picturesque scenery created from the Cariboo and Monashee Mountain ranges meeting the North & South Thompson River makes Kamloops the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts. With something for everyone, locals and tourists, young and old, can enjoy a walk along the riverside, golfing, biking in the hills, or enjoy the endless lakes and beaches for water sports during the spring, summer & fall months.  In the winter, the area is a winter wonderland with Sun Peaks Resort only a short drive away.

Kamloops offers all amenities being the third largest city outside of the Lower Mainland, and is a main destination for sports and health facilities being named the Tournament Capital of Canada due to its commitment to an active lifestyle. It is also the epicenter of healthcare services for the Cariboo and Thompson Shuswap Regions, home to the regions Royal Inland Hospital.

Meet our Kamloops Clinician and Clinical Coordinator

Michelle, Clinic Coordinator, and KaSara, Sleep Clinician, enjoy helping patients experience better sleep.

KaSara Ostegen is a true blue Kamloopsian. Born and raised in the Tournament Capital, KaSara became an RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) after attending Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops.

“My dad encouraged me. He has asthma and heard about the RT program at TRU. They are one of two universities in Canada that offers a dual credential in health sciences and respiratory therapy,” KaSara says.

After graduating, KaSara relocated to the Lower Mainland for one year to work at a hospital as part of her practicum. She then worked for a home care oxygen service before joining the team at Snore MD as a sleep expert.

“Lots of people in my family have obstructed sleep apnea (OSA), which causes the airway to intermittently block, and use CPAP machines to open up air passages for better breathing. It’s an interesting aspect of medical care that was overlooked in the past. I value sleep myself. I know how cranky we can get if we don’t get enough sleep, and I have a soft spot for people who are in that position. Luckily, I know how to fix their problems. It’s amazing when people say that they had no idea what a good night’s sleep felt like until seeing us at Snore MD.”

KaSara Ostegen brings experience, expertise and compassion to her role as Sleep Clinician.

Michelle celebrates the success of each patients journey to better sleep.

Kamloops Snore MD Clinic Coordinator Michelle Bromley is one of the first people you will meet. Her experience in the hospitality industry is evident. You will be greeted with her big smile and friendly voice. Michelle’s mission is to put every patient at ease while guiding them on a journey to better sleep.

She knows how important a good night’s sleep is, as many of her family have a history of sleep disorders.

“Every day, I have the opportunity to educate, provide effective therapy solutions, and celebrate with each patient during their journey to achieving better sleep health and improved lifestyle. I love to see the positive impact of high-quality sleep and witnessing the transformation in their energy levels,” she says.
