Share the Good News: Snore MD’s Victoria Sleep Apnea Clinic is Now Open

14 January 2021 Categories: Our Dream Team Author: Michael Davis
Erin Van El welcomes patients to visit the Snore MD sleep clinic in Shelbourne Plaza

A popular centre for students, professionals, seniors, and families, Vancouver Island residents require a good night’s sleep to work, play, and enjoy the life that living on the island affords them. From the natural beauty to the temperate climate and heritage charm, the BC capital city offers its citizens a different adventure for every season. Those who suffer from a sleep disorder such as sleep apnea know that it is hard to appreciate these experiences when tiredness takes over.

Now, Greater Victoria residents can access free screening and support for their sleep-related symptoms, such as snoring, at the new Snore MD sleep clinic in Victoria

Snore MD’s New Victoria Sleep Apnea Clinic is Open to Serve You

Our spacious store allows patients to browse products and talk with our sleep experts

With a convenient street-level location, Snore MD is located at Shelbourne Plaza, a well-positioned community shopping centre located on the busy Saanich corridor close to the University of Victoria at Shelbourne and Cedar Hill Cross Road. In addition to the new Victoria Snore MD clinic, Shelbourne Plaza is home to Fairway Market, a BC Liquor Store, Starbucks, TD Bank, and Scotiabank, with free parking right outside our doors.

Many of Snore MD’s Victoria patients are referred to us by their physician or family member. However, those experiencing snoring, tiredness and fatigue and are interested in a better night’s sleep can walk right into our clinic without an appointment.

Patients are also welcome to walk in without a referral from their physician. Your Snore MD sleep clinician performs regular consultations with doctor offices, including delivering tests and follow-up results, so that everyone is kept in the loop.

Meet Victoria’s Snore MD Dream Team

Our Victoria Sleep Clinic Coordinator Erin Van El would not change living in Victoria for anything.

After moving from Orillia, Ont. to Victoria with her family when she was just seven years old, Erin later owned and managed a pet store/grooming spa for many years. She also has a medical background as an ophthalmic technician and as a clinical research assistant.

As a graduate of Snore MD University, Erin is happy to pass on what she has learned to her patients confidently and reassuringly and says her number one priority is helping patients attain better sleep for better health.

Erin helps patients attain better sleep for better health

“We’re not just providing CPAP equipment. We are providing ‘Care for Life,’” she says.

In her spare time, Erin volunteers with local pet adoption agencies and loves shopping locally and eating out at locally-owned restaurants.

“I take pleasure in the simple things like spending time with family and cuddling with my senior rescue dog,” she says.

Our Victoria Respiratory Therapist Ron Kopat has extensive experience working in respiratory home care.

A long-time graduate of the Respiratory Program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Ron went on to study at the University of Alberta before taking on several positions, including Clinical, Sales and Marketing, and Regional Manager with homecare companies in Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC.

In 2013, Ron moved to Victoria to manage a respiratory homecare company after living in the Lower Mainland for 20 years.

Ron shares his sleep expertise both in person and virtually

Since joining Snore MD, Ron says incredible people have surrounded him. Like all Snore MD sleep experts, Ron is committed to providing a high level of exceptional care and exceeding patient expectations in service.

A classic car enthusiast, Ron loves to explore all that Vancouver Island has to offer and also likes to spend time at home, where he and his family support two special needs adults.

“We get quite involved in their lives and activities, including with their families, day programs, and with Special Olympics,” he says.

Your Journey to a Better Sleep, Better Life Starts in Four Easy Steps

Take that first step by walking through the doors or booking a virtual care appointment with our sleep apnea experts in Victoria.

Inside, you’ll find a bright, open display area, where our enthusiastic clinical coordinator will greet you with all the information you need to get started.

A sanitation station is located at the front door, and a mask is provided to patients who do not have their own. Snore MD sanitizes all contact, and staff wear masks, face shields, and gloves when required. All monitoring equipment is thoroughly disinfected and sanitized after each use.

With extended hours and open on Saturdays for your convenience, patients are welcome to come in for a free screening to rule out or confirm that they have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and whether it is mild, moderate or severe. To do this, we provide a free, take-home sleep test device that measures your sleep and breathing patterns.

Once the results are recorded, you will be booked for another consultation, either virtually or in our clinic, where our Respiratory Therapist will develop with the best solution to treat your sleep apnea and snoring.

In addition to the complete line of ResMed and Phillips/Respironics line of CPAP equipment and masks, our Vancouver Island sleep clinic carries the Snore Stopper Oral Appliance, CPAP pillows, and cleaning equipment, including Ozone cleaner, wipes, and travel accessories.

Snore MD offers an array of products to suit your needs

Receive the sleep treatment you need for as long as you need it. Snore MD’s premium Care for Life Program means just that.  Once your treatment has begun, our Victoria Snore MD Dream Team will follow up on your progress with remote monitoring and in-person or virtual consultations. We are here for you for the duration. We also provide free unlimited distilled water for your CPAP machine as long as you have it.

And as extended health benefits cover most CPAP therapies, our clinical coordinator can help arrange all the paperwork for your insurance company. We also offer 12 interest-free payment options.

Are you ready for better sleep, better life? Visit our Victoria sleep clinic at Shelbourne Plaza near Fairway Market or book your free virtual appointment.
